Some days...

I really don't know why I bother discussing 4e with anyone online.

My opinion, which is that I actually want to wait and read the core books before making up my mind, and that I want to give the new online Dragon and Dungeon 6 months after THAT to make up my mind about them, seems to please no one.

To the skeptics, I'm a 4e apologist (fuck you Joe Kushner) to the ravers I'm trying to have it both ways.

I'm excited about 4E, myself. I like Mike Mearls and Dave Noonan; in addition to being nice guys and real gamers, between the two of them, they have produced some of my favorite fantasy d20 rules innovations (e.g. the Iron Heroes combat mechanics and the Affiliations rules in the Player's Handbook II).

Plus, the Star Wars Saga rules rocked (minus the editing issues that dog WotC these days). And, everything I've read on DnDInsider.com or heard on the D&D podcast sounds good-to-awesome.

I'll be in the middle of a cross-country move in June, but wherever we are on the release date, I will be looking for the nearest gamestore.

I am glad that the WotC developers are addressing the problems they keep talking about; however, I know too little about what solutions they are implementing for me to decide to convert.

I really don't see what the big deal about 4E is with people. If you don't like it don't use it, if you do like it, then use it.

Me personally, I'm not very fond of fantasy settings (other then superheroes) so I don't play any version of D&D and haven't since first edition. However I do like certain variants/offspring of it's d20 cousin enjoyable.
